25 – Read Luke 12:13-21, 16:19-31
Here are two more parables found only in
Luke. Both concern what happens when money and material wealth become more
important to us than God, a theme which all the Gospels record Jesus as
stressing. Jesus does not want anyone to be poor. But he is equally concerned
with what happens when we get addicted to wealth.
Reflection Questions: How does your desire to be
materially secure conflict with your desire to serve God? What do Jesus’
parables teach you about the increasing gap between rich and poor in our
society?
Prayer: Dear God, you know very well my fear
that I will not have enough money or enough good things. In spite of my fear, help
me to trust in you and be led by your will for my life. Amen.
