Feeding 5,000

Friday, March 16 – Read Mark 6:30-44

Another amazing sign that God’s kingdom is dawning happens when Jesus feeds a huge crowd. Having returned from their mission, the disciples are looking for the chance to tell Jesus all that they did and to get some rest. He takes them away to an isolated place, but when word gets out that he is on the move, thousands seek him out. Compassionately Jesus teaches them until it grows late. The disciples then ask him to send the crowd home, but having fed them with the Word, Jesus then proceeds to fed them with bread and fish.

Reflection Questions: Do you ever feel compassion burnout – as if there are more needs for you to address than you have energy and spiritual strength to handle? Do you find that God is there for you when this happens?

Prayer: Dear God, open me up to your abundant love and power. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
