19 – Read John 9:1-41
The argument with the religious leaders continues
and deepens as John tells the story of Jesus healing a man who was born blind.
Since the healing was done on a Sabbath, the leaders are particularly
disturbed. They question the man’s parents and the man himself. While they
accuse the man of being born in sin and punished by God with blindness, the man
speaks up boldly for Jesus: No one has ever opened the eyes of a man born
blind. If he were not from God, he could do nothing!” The question is, “Who is
blind and who can see? And do we look with physical or with spiritual eyes?”
Reflection Question: Where do you see Jesus in the world
today?
Prayer: Dear God, open the eyes of my heart
and my soul, that I might recognize Jesus at work. Amen.
